How does it detect the fonts on a website?
It reads the site's own stylesheets the way a browser does, the same font-detection engine behind our Brand Kit Extractor. It checks font-face rules, CSS variables, builder typography tokens, Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts loader links, and the selectors a site actually uses for headings and body text, filtering out icon webfonts so a symbol font like Font Awesome can never be reported as the heading or body typeface.
Does it work on any website?
It works on most sites, since it reads the real CSS a browser would load. It will not find a font that a site renders entirely from JavaScript after the page loads, sets only inside an image, or serves from a stylesheet blocked from us. In those cases the tool says so honestly rather than guessing.
What does it mean when a font is not confidently detected?
It means the tool found no clear signal for that field on this specific site, so it says that plainly instead of filling in a plausible-looking default. A missing weight list, an unknown source, or an empty type scale are each an honest answer, not an error. Try the site's own font documentation or its inspector if you need certainty for that one field.
